leaving Squarespace

Squarespace's image export would only let me download our 364 files one at a time, and video content not at all. We were held hostage without the option of paying a ransom.

So I put our entire media library onto a page of our Squarespace website. In the end the BlinkPages migration didn't need it: it recreated our live site without an export, brought over the photos our pages used and skipped the rest. We ultimately left Squarespace without losing anything we needed.

since the move

Creating a Spanish version of our site sat on our someday list for over a year. It was too large and complex a project to budget the time or money for even though we knew we'd benefit.

After moving to BlinkPages, I was able to create the Spanish site and the Claude rules to keep it synced to the English site as we make future updates, on my own with one Claude request and about ten minutes of actual work. That has opened the door to building out all kinds of other amazing site features I never would have thought possible.

Questions, answered

  • Will it look exactly the same?

    Yes. We rebuild every page pixel for pixel from your live site, check it on phone, tablet and desktop, and a person reviews it before you see it.

  • Will the AI drift away from our design over time?

    No. The move builds your brand into shared pieces: your header, colors, buttons and page sections. The AI has to reuse them, so a new event page looks like the rest of your site.

  • Can the rest of our team edit it?

    Yes. Add staff and volunteers to your BlinkPages workspace as Managers or Contributors, and they can edit and publish. Nobody needs GitHub or a technical background. If they can write an email, they can update the site.

  • What happens when our web volunteer leaves?

    Nothing breaks. No login or know-how lives in one person’s head. The next person updates the site the same way, by describing the change, and every past change is saved.

  • Do we need a Claude account? Does ChatGPT work? What does the AI cost?

    Each person who edits uses their own Claude or ChatGPT account, and you can mix the two. The AI runs on the plan your team already pays for, so BlinkPages adds no AI charge on top.

  • What does it cost?

    Plans run from $49 to $199 a month. The $49 plan covers one site with hosting, publishing and security included. Moving an existing site is a one-time fee from $499, and bringing a site you built in Claude is free.

  • Will we keep our search rankings?

    We do the things that protect them. Your pages keep the same addresses, any address that has to change gets a redirect, and each page’s title and description come across with it. No one can promise a ranking, but nothing in the move asks Google to start over.

  • Can we undo something the AI did?

    Yes. Every change arrives as a draft with a preview, and nothing goes live until someone on your team approves it. Every published change is saved, so any of them can be undone. Pro plans add Time Machine, a dated screenshot of every page, so you can see what the site said on any day.

  • Will Google Analytics and our other tools keep working?

    Your DNS records for email and site verification stay where they are. Bring your list of tools to the demo and we’ll go through each one. On the Business plan, Insights shows your Google Analytics and Search Console data inside BlinkPages.

  • Does our email have to move? Do we cancel our old host?

    Your email stays where it is. Your mailbox doesn’t move, and mail keeps arriving after your domain points at BlinkPages.

    Keep paying the old host while your email, another site or your domain still lives there. If you want to leave it, move your email as a separate step, never on the day the site moves.

  • What if BlinkPages goes away?

    Your site is a standard Astro project in a GitHub repository you can copy at any time. Any web developer can host it somewhere else. How it’s built →
